Why (a line is enough)
No history yet. Log a few days on the Day view β once you have a week or
two, this tab turns into a month-by-month picture: a heatmap, category
trends, and week-over-week comparisons. Want to see what that looks like
right now?fills in three weeks instantly.

The log
Nothing written down in this range yet. Notes and intentions from the Day view show up here.
Settings
+counts toward your score,Β·is neutral,βcounts against it.The circle button hides a category you don't use.The small field under each one is for aliases β your own words
for the same category (e.g. "leetcode" or "mock interview" for
Applications) β so the typed-entry box recognizes how you
actually talk about your day, while it still paints in that
category's one weighted colour.
Fill multiple days
Fills the chosen category (or erases) across every day from the start date to the end
date, inclusive. Leave the time fields blank to fill the whole day. Capped atdays per fill; each affected day is saved and
undoable on its own, one at a time, from that day's view.
Daily reminders
Notifications only fire while Chrome is running, and they arrive through your
system's own notifications β if a test never appears, Chrome is being blocked
there rather than here. When that happens the toolbar icon still shows a !
until you open the day. The evening one tells you how much of the day is still
unlogged.
Weekly recap
Off by default. A short summary of the week just gone β tracked time, top category, best day, streak.
Worth noticing
Six things, checked over the last few weeks β intentions you set but don't finish,
stretches with no rest logged, your most productive hour going unprotected, and so on.
Each states a fact; suggestions only appear if you ask for them. Off means the
section never appears at all.
Daily targets, per category
Leave blank for no goal. Progress shows in the side panel once a target is set.
Weekly targets, per category
Independent of the daily targets above β set either, both, or neither per category.
Challenge
A day counter shown next to your streak. Unlike the streak it doesn't break β it just counts from the start date. Leave the name blank for none.
Templates
Templates carry painted time only β never notes, intentions, things to avoid, or your
reflection. Applying one to a day that already has painted time asks for confirmation
first, and it's undoable (βZ) afterward.
Export
You haven't exported a backup yet.
It's been a while since your last backup.
Import
Bringing data from somewhere else
Paste it into any assistant, add your old records underneath, and import
the CSV it gives back. The prompt contains the format and your category names β nothing about your logged time, and nothing
is sent anywhere by this extension.
JSON backups keep everything (days, categories, settings). CSV files only restore blocks
of time, matched against your current categories by name. Merge adds missing days and
leaves existing ones untouched; Replace wipes your history and restores exactly what's
in the file.
Google Drive backup
Roughly daily, quietly, to the same file. It only ever updates a backup you've
already made by hand β it can't sign you in, so it does nothing until you've
connected Drive at least once.
Not backed up to Google Drive yet.
Optional, and off unless you use it. Uses Google'sappDataFolder β
a
storage space private to this extension that doesn't show up in your regular Drive and
that no other app can read. This is the only feature in Daily Dial that sends data
anywhere; everything else stays on this device. SeePrivacyfor details.
Only the app's own words change β your notes, intentions and category
names stay exactly as you wrote them.
